What's in Your Kids' Lunchbox Today?

Thanks to our fabulous section of Meatless Recipes on CatholicMom.com, I have plenty of ideas for what to cook for dinner during Lent. But I'm stumped on lunchbox ideas...aside from peanut butter sandwiches, what do your kids enjoy taking to school for lunch on Lenten Fridays? I'd love to hear your ideas here in the comments, or email me at lisa@catholicmom.com. My kids thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Tuna salad on a potato roll. The denser bread doesn't get soggy by lunchtime! They like this sandwich even when it isn't Friday.

Bagel with cream cheese.

I used to take cream cheese in a pita pocket but my kids think that's gross.

With so many kids with peanut allergies today Lisa, you probably can't take peanut butter sandwiches to school anymore. My daughter' old primary school is now a nut free one due to one kid being hyper allergic to penauts

Hi - have just come across your site. I'm Eric from www.diyfather.com - we are an online interactive forum for fathers based in New Zealand.

I was wondering whether you might be interested in a link exchange or posting a monthly summary of father related issues from our blog.

Red beans and Rice

Corn bread and an apple

Cereal and Milk --they sell kits of this.

Quesadilla --cheese inside two tortillas, microwaved for 30 seconds. Slice in a pizza style.

Cold cheese pizza

Nutella --get whoops from the kids for this one, on bread

Egg bagel sandwich

Cheese stick, crackers, grapes, cookies

Good luck with lunch!

My daughter is a vegetarian, so she loves cream cheese--plain or flavored--on a tortilla, rolled up. Sometimes we put dried raisins or cranberries inside too. She also takes a "cheese dog" - a stick of string cheese on a whole wheat bun. Another suggestion is a small container of hummus with crakers - a great source of protein.

These are great suggestions guys! Keep them coming! I love the "cheese dog" idea - I never would have thought of that. Also, thanks for the pointer on the nut allergies - I forgot about that!
