Catholic Schools Week

Reader Tammy wrote to remind me that Catholic Schools Week is coming up - this year we'll celebrate from 1/28 - 2/3. She's looking for fun craft or game activity ideas for her Kindergarten students. Does anyone have any suggestions? Comment below or email me at Lisa@catholicmom.com to share your thoughts.

Hello,

I'm a Catholic school teacher and I'm eager to find some new ideas to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. In the past our school has sent cards to our troops, made decorations for nursing homes, had a prayer walk through our school neighborhood, open house for intersted families, dress-down day, etc. Any new ideas??? Thanks

Me again!

The theme this year is, Catholic Schools Light The Way. A craft idea might be to trace childrens hands on yellow construction paper. Use craft paper to make a large "candle" and place the childrens' hands at the top to become the flame.
Also, to show our appreciation to our school volunteers I've used Print Shop to create candy bar wrappers with our school's logo or the Catholic Schools Week logo. I re-wrap candy bars with the new wrapper and place in a clear cellophane bag along with some confetti and a small thank you note. This is inexpensive yet it shows our volunteers that we really do appreciate all they do for our school.
